lulu 3The ideal Exotic should be heavily boned with short legs. The face should be round looking with large round eyes and very small rounded ears. The nose should be pushed into the face as much as possible but not stubbed. The coat should be plush, full and stand away from the body but short. Arrays of colors are accepted. Exotics with long hairs are not accepted to show with the WCF or the FIFE as Exotics but fall under a different category. I mean why bother getting a long haired Exotic when you can go for the real thing either a Persian or an Exotic. Exotics have the same standards as Persians really except for the coat length.

Just as with any other cat they to need to be groomed maybe not as time consuming as a Persian but none the less they need their daily few minutes. As their noses are set deeply into their faces the tear ducts are narrow thus making it a daily need to clean their eyes with a moist cloth. The ears must be cleaned regularly to keep them in a healthy state. The coat can go for a couple of days without brushing as it does not tangle but it is still important to brush them as this massages the skin and helps with circulation. All cats like to grind their nails and I’m afraid the Exotic is no different so it is important to keep their nails trimmed and to provide your cat with a scratching post. This can save a lot of problems with your cat scratching the furniture. If the cat is reluctant at first to use it, a little cat nip rubbed on the post will do the trick.

The Exotic is a very clean cat and gladly uses the litter tray, of course boy cats who have reached maturity will tend to spray urine every where to mark their territory so if you do not intend to use him as a breeder cat the best thing to do is to get him neutered.
